Good grief, it's a Peanuts 60th anniversary, Charlie Brown!

Magnet #953 - Peanuts 60 Years

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip, and they don't look a day over eight.

Growing up, one of the best things to do on a Sunday morning was to rifle through the cool thickness of the Sunday paper, to be the first to grab the funnies section (And then the sale circulars, but that's a whole other magnet, I suspect) and read it from cover to cover.

For me, that's generally the only way that I've enjoyed the Peanuts gang. While I watched all of the holiday tv specials at least once, I've never been able to re-watch them every year as many of my friends do. So the strips were always the way for me to visit with Snoopy and his pals.

I don't really have a favorite of the gang - well, maybe Woodstock, but that's probably because (even if I hate birds), I'm partial to little yellow ones. But, then it could be Lucy, just because she was always so mean and a part of me identified with her bossing Charlie Brown around. Or, it could be Linus, cuz he was so faithful. Or Snoopy, cuz I would love to fly a plane and have fake dogfights! Or it could be Schroeder, because of his piano playing. Or Pig Pen, because who doesn't like a little muss every now and again.

Or maybe...yeah, see? Maybe they're all my favorites?

I picked up this magnet at BEA, where they were highlighting the 60th anniversary book, giving away these pins and a supercute yellow presskit folder with Charlie Brown's fun zigzig stripes running across it. And, if I weren't awake so early today (on a Saturday, no less), the anniversary would have gotten away from me.

The Schulz Museum in California has arranged and/or sponsored events at several museums around the country - oh, how much fun we could have, Charlie Brown!

Magnet #755 - Snoopy and Woodstock, BFFs forever

Hee. Target $1 aisle. C'mon. Need I say more. Pretty colors, pretty stickers, pretty magnets, pretty ribbons.

What?

A while ago, I was at my sister's place in DC, and I noticed that she put stickers on everything she owns. Mainly to tell the difference between her phone and others, her remote and others, her iPod and others, her basically anything and others.

I mocked her for that.

I should have known better, because I noticed something about myself over the last couple of weeks.

First, I stickered my chargers - for my Mac and my Blackberry. I stickered my clipboard, my notebooks, my folders and even my all-access pass.

Second, I beribboned everything. No. Seriously.

I beribboned the key to one of the conference rooms we were in.

I beribboned the key to the other conference room we were in.

I beribboned the car keys.

I beribboned the key to the CHIPsmobile.

I beribboned jump drives.

I even tried to double-ribbon the brand ambassador gifts.

Hmmm. I think in addition to just liking ribbon, I might like the word beribboned too much. Especially given that I'm pretty much using that word incorrectly. Eh.

Dudes! I've been saving this darn magnet for Valentine's Day for weeks! Then the day rolls around, and I totally forgot!

Anyway, another $1 aisles Target special, with lovable Snoopy surrounded by stripey-stripe hearts.

Sooooo, happy Valentine's Day, a day late, but not a magnet short.

Magnet #688 - Glittery Snow White

Yesterday, we walked into a Target and I beelined to the dollar-store section, and my friend was like, Whhhhhy do you have to look there?

My question is, why not? I swear they put all the colorful items there just for the kids (and me) to pick up.

And, it's not like I'm picking up the crown jewels there or anything, just the odd Disney/Snoopy/Smurfs magnet set or two. Heh. What? I can't resist when they're just sitting there.

But, speaking of jewels, I just looked at this magnet closely. I wonder why the artist thought they should glitter and glorify the apple that poisoned Snow? Moreover, refresh my memory - did Snow White even include any princess jewels?
